Amellago

Morocco

A quiet limestone gorge on the Oued Ghéris, north-east of Todra between Goulmima and Rich, with around 300 routes developed mostly by French teams since the 2000s. Rough brown and grey rock, single pitches and bolted multipitches up to 350 m. The paper topo lives at Mimoun's auberge (Oasis Tizzarouine), which is also where to stay. Spring and autumn.

The most accessible multipitch at Amellago: four short pitches broken by a walk along a ledge under the roofs, finishing with an exposed traverse on rough brown rock. Some doubtful rock at the start of pitch 3. In shade from mid-afternoon in winter.
