Montanejos is a spa village in the Alto Mijares hills of inland Castellón, roughly 90 km north-west of Valencia, with more than 1,000 routes in limestone gorges. The multipitch climbing is in the Barranco de la Maimona, a narrow canyon that starts at the edge of the village, on walls of 100 to 250 m. Bolting varies from sector to sector and is sometimes spaced, so each route needs checking. Some walls, including the Espolón de los Agujeros, are closed from 1 January to 30 June, and the canyon floor floods after heavy rain. Autumn and winter are the main seasons; the climbers' refuge at the mouth of the gorge is the usual base and wild camping is forbidden.

Eight pitches up a vertical prow deep in the Maimona canyon, on orange rock full of pockets (agujeros means holes). Sustained at 6a+ to 6b and physical throughout, with a huge roof start to the crux pitch and a bench to sit on at the third belay. Closed from January to June.

Seven varied pitches in two halves split by a big ledge: vertical walls and cracks below, then an overhanging red wall and a traverse on a carpet of sharp little spikes beneath giant roofs. In the sun from the morning, unpolished, with an easy walk down.
