Sierra de Guara (Peña Predicadera)

Peña Predicadera is a line of conglomerate spurs and towers, 100 to 220 m high, in the south-west of the Sierra de Guara, east of the Vadiello reservoir, north-east of Huesca in Aragón. The rock is a compact, very grippy calcareous conglomerate (tillite), and the crag was neglected for years before many of its 1980s routes were rebolted and new ones added, so it now offers well-bolted multipitches at modest grades. You drive from Huesca via Ibieca to the La Tejería car park at the end of a gravel track towards San Cosme, then walk about 40 minutes to the routes. It lies inside the Guara natural park; the park's climbing order lists it as open all year, but closures for nesting raptors applied in the past, so check the current rules. The walls face south and south-east, which makes autumn, winter days and spring the best time; summer is very hot.

Espolón Guanchinfú

A friendly six-pitch line up a conglomerate spur, opened in 1985 and now well bolted throughout. Four pitches of slab and spur at 4a to 4c lead to the two best pitches: a bulge and fine groove at 5b, then a short leaning chimney at 5c that you climb in opposition. Superb grippy rock and wide views over the Vadiello reservoir.

El Templo de los Sueños

A modern 2016 route up the lower right-hand part of Peña Predicadera, joining the upper spur to finish beside Espolón Guanchinfú. Two long, sustained and very closely bolted 6b+ pitches come early and can be pulled through at A0; after a walking link, a fine V+ chimney gives the highlight of the upper half. Excellent conglomerate throughout.
