Gerbier (Vercors)

The Gerbier is the craggy limestone ridge that rises to about 2100 m on the eastern rim of the Vercors, between Villard-de-Lans and the Grenoble basin, with the Ranc des Agnelons continuing it to the north. Its walls are 150 to 300 m of grey, often fluted limestone, climbed from Villard-de-Lans on the west side (Les Clots, La Conversaria, Les Cochettes or Les Glovettes) or from Prélenfrey on the east. Approaches take 1 to 1.5 hours on good paths and descents are on foot over the ridge. The season runs from late May to October; west faces stay in shade until early afternoon, which makes them a refuge in summer heat.

Ticket pour Manikia

Seven long, sustained pitches on compact fluted limestone on the highest part of the Ranc des Agnelons. A bouldery 6c+ start, a magnificent 45 m 7a endurance pitch, then cannelures at 6b. Generous grades and close bolting make it a good first route at this level.
